We Will Fix It…
It was my 15th birthday and my Dad came in the house that evening an shouted to me, “Happy Birthday Son”. He then tossed the keys to a car to me and said, “Let’s go look at it”!
As I went outside I was as excited as any 15 year old could be getting a car, really I ran…real fast! There she was in all her glory! A two toned (sky blue on baby blue) 1956 Ford Victoria. She was a beauty! Dad said, “Let’s try her out”!
When I walked to the drivers side of the car, my thoughts of this beautiful car quickly were diminished. The drivers side was crushed, scraped dented from the front fender all the way to the back. I looked at Dad, he shrugged and said, “That’s ok, We Will Fix It”!
I am thinking ok, a little time and work this will be okay, He then said “Crank her up”! After getting in the passenger side, (the drivers door would not open) I noticed the interior looked like a few rats (not mice) had lived in this car. I looked at Dad, and he said. “We Will Fix It”!
Needless to say, I’m a bit frustrated, but that’s okay! I’m 15 and I have a car! I get behind the wheel of this machine, put the keys in the ignition and prepare my mind to hear the power behind this engine. I turn the key and….click, I try again, click. I asked my Dad, “dead battery”? His reply, “No, blown engine”!
I ask him how much he paid for this car? (wanted to call it a piece of junk, but I refrained) He proudly told me, “Fifty dollars”!
“Fifty dollars”? “You paid too much for this dented up, torn up, engine blown car”!
His reply, “We Will Fix It”!
I’m thinking, “ The days of miracles are over”!
He said. “Look in the trunk?”
Great, let me guess, no gas tank, maybe a dead body, I didn’t know what to expect. As I open the trunk the answer to ALL the problems of the car was there! Every Craftsman tool needed to FIX this car! I was in shock! I didn’t know what to say.
I remember his words, “We Will Fix It”
It took a long time with help from my Granddaddy, who helped with the body, Dad who helped with the engine, My Grandmother and Mom who restored the interior,by hand.
When she was finished, she was a very fast, great looking pristine car!
I think about this quite often in our spiritual lives,
Let me explain,
We are often scarred, and damaged by the outside forces that confront us daily. We live in a world that sin will rip us apart.
God says “I Will Fix It”
Inside our interior is torn, ripped, rotted. Our heart, damaged with the sin that Satan tempts us with.
God says, “I Will Fix It”
Our soul, is dead, there is no power, nothing seems to start us. We can’t get going!
God says, I Will Fix It”
Look! Here is the Tool you need to fix everything!
It’s in HIS WORD!
Ps.119:105-6
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, And light unto my path.
I have sworn, and have confirmed it, That I will observe thy righteous ordinances.
2 Timothy 3:16-17
All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work.
When studying HIS WORD, there is healing, repair, strength, SALVATION, RESTORATION.
If we let God, FIX IT
Jesus provides the way!
1 Peter 2:24-25
He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. For you were straying like sheep, but have now returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of your souls.
The great thing is…it doesn’t take time. It is immediate, when we choose to let Him FIX US!
