The Road to Sixty – Day 38
Take Care of Her Son
When Dad passed away in 2011 one of the last things he told me to do was to take care of Mom. It’s a promise that I made and one that I’m trying my best to live up to!
Today was one of those days that I looked at Mom and realized of the precious time that we have left. Her health is okay, as good as it can be with the ailments she lives with daily.
I also realize that she suffers some. The pain of the arthritis, now compressed fractures in her back and a few other things have made some limitations.
But she still presses on.
Throughout all the physical pain she goes through and we deal with, the pain that hurts the worse is the missing of Dad. Depression.
There is not a day that goes by that she doesn’t think or talk about him. We laugh, as we remember some of the past. And there are some “good days”. I am thankful that she has a friends that love and look after her.
I will admit, sometimes it’s hard, because you want to do so much more for her care, but time will not allow and some things we learn to live with daily.
I will take care of her…gladly! We will share love, smiles and even the frustrations.
She will win…
She is my Mom!
Till tomorrow…
