The Road to Sixty – Day 39
Counting Blessings
So today was the day to cut the grass. For most people cutting grass is a chore, (it can be) but for me it is a time to think!
Sometimes I will work on lessons.
Sometimes I will pray.
Sometimes I just need the quiet that is given by the sound of the mower drowning out all other sounds (cell phone, text messages)
Sometimes I just focus on the task at hand…mowing the 6+acres.
But today…
It was a little bit of catch-up on the yard. The grass was a little higher so it would take a little longer. What would today bring?
The old song “Count your Blessings” kept rolling through my mind and eventually out of my mouth. I remember the former owner of the property (J.K. Langsdon) singing loudly as he mowed. Don’t know if I was as loud as him.
The song led to me literally counting and thanking God for the blessings in my life.
For the next 3+ hours as I mowed, I kept coming up with more and more blessings someone them big and others that you might think insignificant but are huge to me.
As the final phrase of that song states, “and it will surprise you, what the Lord has done”
To be honest, it doesn’t surprise me at all. God has smiled on me, let Him smile on you too!
Till tomorrow…
