The Road to Sixty – Day 119
The first Friday of the month I get the opportunity to go to Columbia Academy Elementary school for a “Circle of Friends”singing. I have been doing this for several years and thoroughly love it! I love seeing the excitement in the children’s face when we sing.
You can see the love of God in their hearts and hear it in their voices.
I love the teachers here. Many I have known since they were teenagers. Now they educate and influence young hearts. They share the light of Christ daily to children.
I am thankful for this opportunity.
Afterwards, I went to Burger King…. you will say no big deal, a lot of people go to Burger King. I go to see some of the men in my life that mean the world to me.
I wouldn’t dare guess the ages of men, but I will say I am the youngest.
There is Mike, my mentor and friend, a master of many skills. He still influences my life with his wisdom.
Joe, Vietnam vet, a brilliant mind and a compassionate heart, a genuine concern for the people around and how to help.
J.B. probably the oldest, WWII veteran, a man of compassion, a man of few words, but his presence is felt.
There are others I could mention and probably will at some point in this journey. I am thankful I get to spend some time listening to the wisdom of these fine men.
Till tomorrow…
